I actually bought this Prepac Monterey White Cubbie Bench from another vendor that has a local store that I could return the bench to if I didn't like it in order to avoid return shipping costs. Totally unnecessary! I could have saved a few bucks by going through Amazon. It's a sturdy bench--it holds my husband. It's also very stylish. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble the bench. One minor issue is that the decorative edging in front makes the 14X14X14 inch collapsible storage cubes not fit. A body pillow across the top makes for a nice comfortable cushion. Overall this bench is a great buy!

This is a solid quality bench. I put it together myself alone -well my two year kept taking parts and pieces and running off- the directions were easy to understand, the diagrams were good, the whole bench assembly process way easier than anything from ikea for sure. The base could be wider for more stability but at this pricepoint I am completely satisfied. The padding is adequate, the color is brown not the red in the product picture and as for the 'chemical smell', I am extremely sensitive to odors ie scented candles, incense, cleaners, plastics but I was not bothered by any smell from the bench. Very happy.
